Apasen International launched our second Ramadan Appeal this week to help fund day care centres for children with moderate to severe neurodevelopmental disabilities in Bangladesh.
For the last two years, Apasen International has been working with our main partner on the ground – BRAC – to open and operate all year new day care centres for children who are being denied their basic rights to education and health care because of their disability and poverty.
We focus on identifying and supporting poor children and their primary carers with four main conditions – down’s syndrome, autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, and learning disabilities.
Last year, we raised enough funds from our generous supporters to help open up a brand new centre in Sylhet Town which is now serving up to 25 children and their families six days a week throughout the year. We also contributed to the operational costs of BRAC’s day care centre in Korail slum. THANK YOU!
This year we would like to raise more funds to expand these centres so more children can attend – and reach under-served communities with no education or healthcare. Currently with these two centres, we are helping up to 50 moderate to severely disabled children access vital services and provide their main carers with support and time to earn an income. All the funds donated to this appeal will go towards this project and help expand and open centres like these in Bangladesh where there is most need.
