Renowned Professor Md. Golam Rabbani, Chairperson of the Bangladesh Government’s Neurodevelopmental Disability (NDD) Protection Trust and Mr Mahmud Hasan MBE, Chief Executive of Apasen International came together for a meeting on 25^th July, 2018 at the Apasen head office in London. During the meeting, they discussed the importance of a comprehensive approach to identify children with disabilities in Bangladesh through capacity building and the work Apasen International has been involved in the past along with the current and future projects. Mr Hasan, the Chief Executive of Apasen International explained Apasen’s unique service models to Professor Rabbani and gave him a tour to the Opportunity Zone (Day Care Centre).

Describing the current NDD situation in Bangladesh, Professor Rabbani mentioned:

‘In Bangladesh, a large number of children with neurodevelopmental disabilities along with their parents and caregivers have been facing challenges on a day-to-day basis. Based on the type of neurodevelopmental disability, the government is working to create a platform where both government and non-government organisations will come together to address the relevant issues and challenges.’

Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed, a versatile Bangladeshi writer- television presenter, has paid a courtesy visit to Apasen head office to see its activities last month. The Chief Executive of Apasen and Apasen International Mr Mahmud Hasan MBE welcomes him to the office and briefs him about its recent initiatives. Professor Sayeed appreciates Apasen’s wide range of services and expresses his positive notion about upcoming projects in Bangladesh. He says,

”… people with disabilities will be hugely benefited if Apasen International can replicate the Day Care model in Bangladesh.”

The philanthropic author, Abdullah Abu Sayeed, is currently the chairman of Biswa Sahitya Kendra, a non-profit organization that promotes the study of literature, reading habits and progressive ideas. At this moment, the BSK has 500 schools under this programme, and over 100000 active student members. Besides these programmes, Biswa Sahitya Kendra actively maintains libraries across the nation. It pioneered the concept of mobile library in Bangladesh, which carries books around the country.
