Apasen, a sister organisation of Apasen International, has successfully organised its first ever Care Conference on 1 November 2018 with a vision to reinforce the standard of care in support of stronger policy, systems and shared purpose. The principal focus of the conference was to honour the extraordinary commitment of Apasen’s 400+ UK carers who make up to 6,000 visits every week to support the most vulnerable people in the communities. During the event, Apasen carers shared some powerful testimonies what motivated them to ease suffering and lift people’s spirits.
The conference was joined by LBTH Mayor John Biggs, Rushanara Ali MP, London Assembly Member Unmesh Desai, professionals from national organisations, council officials, elected councillors, health and social care managers, service users and their families as well as distinguished members of the community. The event highlighted the initial resources, practical guidance and stimulated the carers to reflect upon their care for others as well as themselves. The theme of Apasen Care Conference 2018 was ‘Care in the Community’.
