APASEN International participated in the 19th World Autism Awareness Day event, organised by the Government of Bangladesh’s Ministry of Social Welfare. The event brought together national and international stakeholders to promote awareness, acceptance, and inclusion of people with autism. Discussions and activities focused on strengthening early intervention, improving support systems, and advancing inclusive policies for individuals and families affected by autism.
In the event, Tonushree Roy Barman was awarded the prestigious “Best Carer” title under the Ministry of Social Welfare of Bangladesh at the historic Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka, in recognition of her exceptional contribution to caregiving and disability support services.
Selected from among carers across the country, she was honoured for her sustained compassion, professionalism, and commitment to person-centred, inclusive care. Her work has made a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families, supporting dignity, independence, and improved wellbeing for persons with disabilities.
The recognition reflects the increasing importance of caregiving within Bangladesh’s inclusive development agenda and highlights the essential role of frontline carers in strengthening community-based support systems and advancing equal opportunities.
