Apasen learners’ mesmerising performance at Boishakhi Mela

As part of Redbridge Boishakhi Mela, a fascinating performance has been staged by Apasen learners during the Bengali New Year festival in Ilford at the local Town Hall. The event was organised by Redbridge Boishakhi Mela Trust where Apasen has been the charity partner. The learners’ performance was appreciated by thousands of audience present at the venue. A selection of popular (Bengali) folk songs along with traditional dance on snake charming was performed as one of the attractions of the festival.

While making a formal speech, Apasen Chief Executive Mahmud Hasan MBE says: ‘‘Initiating learners’ participation at Boishakhi Mela was an effort to bring their powerful and vivid expressions of life in a public sphere to promote social inclusion.’’

 

Farzanah Chowdhury reassures her support for Apasen International

Farzanah Chowdhury, the Managing Director and CEO of Green Delta Insurance Company, has paid a courtesy visit to Apasen head office in London. The Chief Executive of Apasen and Apasen International Mr Mahmud Hasan MBE welcomes Ms Chowdhury while AI Chairman, trustees and members of staff were present.  During the visit, Farzanah Chowdhury reassures her support towards Apasen International and appreciates the work it has been doing over the years.  She says,

”I appreciate Apasen’s great initiatives for contributing towards empowering the differently abled people in our communities. Our company is proud to be a part of Apasen’s great and noble initiative.”

Mr Mahmud Hasan then conducted a briefing session with multimedia presentation about Apasen’s upcoming special school and day care projects in Sylhet, Bangladesh. Farzanah Chowdhury also visits Apasen Day Care Centre and observed learners’ regular activities followed by an ‘exchange of views’ with board members and trustees. On behalf of Apasen International, the Chairman of the AI trustee board Mr Helal Rahman presented a token of crest to the guest.

Ms Chowdhury has been the first female Managing Director and CEO in the financial sector in Bangladesh. She has received overwhelming warmth and respect for her pioneering efforts in taking the cause of insurance forward. She is also a member of the    advisory council of the BRAC Business School, BRAC University. Ms. Chowdhury is a member of the advisory council of Talent Nomics India which aims to strengthen the pipeline of women leaders across sectors and regions. She was awarded with the prestigious Chartered Insurer Status by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) UK.
