Everyone has the right to independence and a good quality of life whether they are living with a disability, ill health, special educational needs, or entering later years.
To improve the lives of vulnerable people with learning disabilities, autism and other special needs in urban and rural communities in Bangladesh.
To provide high quality, personalised care and support to help people achieve their goals, live a fulfilling life, and be connected with society.
We work in partnership with individuals, families, and communities.
Apasen International supports the Bangladesh Government’s commitment to uphold the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities that demands recognition of each child or adult with a disability as a full member of her or his family, community, and society. We focus on removing the physical, cultural, economic, communication, mobility, and attitudinal barriers that impede the realisation of their rights rather than on seeing people as passive recipients of care and protection.
“The underestimation of the abilities of people with disabilities is a major obstacle to their inclusion and to the provision of equal opportunities. Dismissive attitudes exist throughout society – as well as people with disabilities themselves, who in the absence of evidence that they are valued and supported will often underestimate their own abilities.”
